Dear Friends and Family of St. Paul’s,
I am sorry to have to inform you of a death in our parish family.
Our well loved Ed Doxey died early this morning. He had taken a fall at home last Sunday after the Annual Meeting.
Dee and the family have settled on the following tentative service arrangements:
Viewing and wake will be at Whitting Funeral Home in Glen Head on this coming Monday, February 3rd. The funeral will be held at St. Paul’s the following morning, Tuesday, February 4th. I would ask that if there is someone you think might not have been informed, please let them know.
As I said at the Annual Meeting, we have lost many of our parish family in such a short span of time. It can be difficult to wrap your head around. These were not abstract people we read of in the news. These were people whom we’ve known, loved and worshiped with for as long as many of us have been at St. Paul’s. We are all, at different levels, grieving the loss of those members of St. Paul’s. All the more reason to be there for Dee and their loved ones. When we say to them that we are sorry for their loss, we aren’t simply mouthing the words. They are words that we truly mean and sincerely feel in our hearts and that love is a gift we can give Dee and the family.
As soon as the Service Arrangements are finalized I will send out another email to let you all know. Please keep Dee in your prayers and give thanks to God for the gift of Ed Doxey.
In Christ,
Fr. Shawn
Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your servant Ed. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you, a sheep of your own fold, a lamb of your own flock, a sinner of your own redeeming. Receive him into the arms of your mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light. Amen.
May his soul and the souls of all the departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
